In 1948 Peter joined the central organising committee for the Festival of Britain. Its stated goal was to provide ‘a tonic to the nation’ and re-ignite pride in national identity.
Peter was a frequent contributor to leading design publications including Print, Designer and Design magazine. He was also editor of SIAD's monthly journal.
Established in 1953 with an illustration based focus, Peter developed a broader graphic design practice working for leading organisations and publishers.
Peter's lack of formal training gave him an open mind and an imaginative approach to design as a tool for problem solving. An outlook that served as an inspiration to his students over the years.
Peter's core belief was that by collaborating and supporting one another, designers could do better work and more good in the world. Over the years he became a tireless ambassador for his profession.
In 1964, Peter collaborated with ICI to create a showcase for their game-changing wallpaper product, Vymura. The result was a vibrant backdrop of texture and colour for the collections throughout his family home in Kew.
