Having spent the War acting as Liaison Officer to the Italian Navy, Peter was transferred to Cairo as Broadcasting Representative Middle East. He worked as an Announcer and Producer for Forces Broadcasting, then went onto become a Newsreader and Scriptwriter for Egyptian State Broadcasting. An experience which enabled him subsequently to take on a role as Producer at the BBC, working on several children's programs including an experimental graphic programme "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" (TS Eliot).
